The qualification applies to a range of roles including coordinators and managers of boarding, day care, breeding or shelter facilities, as well as senior zookeepers, aquarists, and wildlife carers. Available with a general, companion animal, or wildlife and exhibited animal specialisation.

This course comprises 6 core units:

  • ACMGEN402 Advise on animal industry compliance and practices

There are 7 elective units chosen from groups covering companion animal facilities, wildlife and exhibited animal facilities, and general electives. For a specialisation in companion animals or wildlife and exhibited animals, at least 4 electives must be selected from the relevant group. Your elective selection will be agreed with your trainer at enrolment.

PRACTICAL WORK

Practical components require access to an appropriate animal care facility relevant to your chosen specialisation. This may be your current workplace or another approved facility.

ONLINE DELIVERY

Students will need to complete a series of training activity books during their study. Students can log in to the student portal and submit completed work at any time. There is no set timetable — students are encouraged to complete activities as quickly or as slowly as they are able. Mentors and coaches are available online to assist, and work can be submitted as many times as required to be marked as competent in each unit.

All activities and assessments must be completed and returned before any qualification is granted.

LOGBOOKS

The logbook specifies the skills and knowledge required in each unit. There is a space for your approved facility supervisor to sign off activities as completed satisfactorily. Your supervisor must be approved by Pegasus Equine Training prior to commencement of practical activities.
